Nieuw 'change you can belief in'-platform
De Amerikaanse trendwatcher Michael Tchong heeft op zijn weblog Ubercool alle zogenaamde 'thought-starters', een avantgarde van denkers en innovators, opgeroepen om Amerika te helpen om zich opnieuw uit te vinden.
Het manifest is een oproep om je visie te delen, mee te denken over de toekomst van Amerika en vooral ook je stem te laten horen. Michael Tchong somt allerlei misstanden in het huidige Amerika op, zoals de normen en waarden zoek geraakt zijn (denk aan de vele politieke schandalen, oorlogen in Irak en Afghanistan, de fraudeschandalen, het Enron-schandaal), alle 'greed', de enorme schulden, het slechte onderwijs en ga maar door.
Amerika schreeuwt om transparantie, zegt Tchong. En hij gelooft in verbetering. Nu Obama president is geworden, is het mogelijk om mee te denken en mee te bouwen aan het Amerika van de toekomst. Het 'change you can believe in'-platform is geopend.

Tchong schrijft:
" America faces serious challenges to maintain its storied status quo. Hurdles include a sinking economy, wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the rising cost of education, global warming, a crumbling infrastructure and American workers with uncertain futures.
Trendwatchers are more acutely aware of these issues than most, but they’re also more hopeful. They recognize that these challenges can be overcome through creativity, innovation and deft planning. To accomplish this, the groundwork has to be laid in 2009, it can be postponed no longer.
In a few days, Barack Obama will become America’s 44th President. He was swept into power on a “change you can believe in” platform. For the U.S. and the rest of the world, change could not have arrived quickly enough.
We have reluctantly remained sidelined as events transpired but we believe the time to act is now. To that end, we submit for consideration the following platform for change, one that could define a visionary administration.
What follows are thought-starters, tangible beginnings designed to spark serious dialog and meaningful action. Please forward this innovation platform to at least one other person you know, so that they may join the conversation.
